h/S: JONATHAN GONZÁLEZ

Sb Fuller in collaboration with Jonathan González

Curated by Tony Jackson

October 12th - November 9th

As the most recent  iteration of h/S,  an ongoing series of embedded collaborative gestures set within a thin self-illuminated glass tank, this work now reappears at CICCIO as artist Sb Fuller presents h/S: JONATHAN  GONZÁLEZ. Within the framework of this ongoing project, González  presents a commissioned choreographic work in the form of an osmotic volume of blood held over the reach of a continuous wave. Choreographing the variable containment and dispersal of their own blood, González performs “the hold”.

With one work exhibiting  another, these works depend on an embeddedness symptomatic of a relationship they might describe. Dependent upon this friction as a point of departure, an essay produced concurrently with the exhibition and co-written by the artists in part sources texts of  González own press, exhibition, and publication record into reworked abstractions  on authorship, attention, cannibalism, embodiment, reflex, and responsibility.

First introduced in a lecture as part of Gordon  Hall’s Center for Experimental Lectures series at Storm King and again presented last Summer at Situations Gallery, the work in space, the text available within the exhibition, and the production of documentation itself at the generative end of a growing archive evince an unyielding inquiry into  positions around rightful representation, collectively figuring, if nothing else, a special entanglement.
