[compost and gasoline]

This Super8 document figures the installation of a performative landscape with the word, ‘cancel’, depicted in gasoline alongside traces of the performer’s body. The installation resides in the interior of an open-air studio accessible to gallery visitors through a peephole made by the artist in the adjoining wall. The work explores the interior of the studio as it relates to the hull of the historic transcontinental voyage, Zong, and the colloquial use of 'canceling' -- as in stopping operations as usual.
